Because of the stupidity of the Grover Norquist driven Congress, I have been asking for over two years why the President doesn't "do a Truman" and take his case to the American people. Well, now he is doing it, and the dinosaurs are crying like babies...

At least one Republican gets it: What the president is doing, Republican Representative Lee Terry of Nebraska told MSNBC on Thursday, "is setting us up to be the fall people for going over the fiscal cliff. And, frankly, going over the fiscal cliff is a win for the president. So either way, we're going to get it."

So why is this man laughing?

Because he's one of the fools who doesn't get it. Bye, bye, Mitch.

Big Spenders...

The Chicken Little crowd loves to portray Democrats, especially the current President, as big spenders, and thus the harbingers of doom. They get their "information" from Foxlies®, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, the national Chamber of Commerce, Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and a whole raft of crackpot websites.

But the truth is that the Republicans are the real big spenders, and the biggest threat to the future of the USA. That is nothing new. Our current dilemma was created by the tax cutting, big spending Republicans, beginning with the great Ronald Reagan (who raised taxes over and over and spent even more) to the ultimate tax cutter, George W. Bush/Cheney, who plunged us into a situation that has been labeled a "recession", but is truly a "depression".

The last time that we fell into a real "depression" was in 1929, after a series of three Republican Presidents, Harding (the most corrupt President in our history), Silent Cal and Hoover, eerily similar to the most recent bunch, all tax cutters and big spenders. Hoover inherited the problem...it was unfair to blame him for the Great Depression, except that he had four years to do something about it and did nothing.

Does that sound like the Tea Party/Grover Norquist controlled House and the filibustering Republican Senate? Yep.

In case you are the usual American sucker, here are the real facts about how the deficit got to be the deficit. Numbers are from the CBO and Department of the Treasury, not from FoxLies® and all the other bullshitters.

Reality vs Fantasy...

Any business expert, or, for that matter, any reasonably educated person, looking at these charts, could tell you what happened to Twinkies...
...but as we used to say in the Navy, there's always the 10% who don't get it.

Mr. Griffith served for many years on the Forsyth County Board of Education, for much of that time as Chairman.

In the early 20th century he was president of the Piedmont Savings Bank, vice-president of Forsyth Roller Mills and secretary, treasurer and manager of the Farmers' Trade House, a general merchandise company.

He and his wife Virginia lived for many years at 524 North Spring Street, across from the current Bibs Downtown restaurant.

Griffith School is named for him.

We have seen many depressing pictures of the results of Hurricane Sandy. But this one is the most frightening of all. Batten down the hatches, matey!
